BlackRock writes that its iShares franchise surpassed USD5 trillion in assets this summer, with record net inflows of USD153 billion in Q3.
This follows a record first half, as ETFs increasingly become the vehicle of choice, the firm says, adding that iShares leads the global ETF industry with over USD345 billion in year-to-date inflows.
“Notably, 36 iShares products each saw over USD1 billion in net inflows last quarter. Digital asset ETPs and active ETFs – each now exceeding USD100 billion in AUM – demonstrate iShares’ strength in scaling new offering adoption and expanding into new markets.
“iShares’ USD1.2 trillion bond ETF platform continues to lead the industry, reflecting growing adoption across tactical and strategic portfolios. The size of the platform would make iShares a top five bond manager on a standalone basis.
“iShares had USD46 billion of net inflows into fixed income ETFs in Q3, including USD5 billion in active bond ETFs.
“With USD13 billion in assets, the iShares Flexible Income Active ETF (BINC) led active bond ETF inflows with USD3 billion in Q3, while the USD59-billion iShares 0-3 Month Treasury Bond ETF (SGOV) topped the industry with nearly USD30 billion of net inflows in 2025.”
BlackRock writes that it manages over USD100 billion assets in active ETFs, with offerings across fixed income, systematic and thematic strategies.
Active ETFs drove USD21 billion of inflows in Q3, led by the iShares U.S. Equity Factor Rotation Active ETF (DYNF) and BINC in the U.S.
The USD28-billion DYNF is the top net inflowing active ETF in the industry in 2025 with over USD10 billion in net inflows, demonstrating robust demand for systematic strategies that deliver diversified sources of alpha, the firm says.
“Since launching the iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) and iShares Ethereum Trust (ETHA) in 2024, both products have led the industry in inflows,” the firm writes.
“IBIT has gathered USD24 billion year-to-date and ranks among the top five ETFs by inflows across the entire ETF industry.
“These launches exemplify BlackRock’s efforts in supporting better access to newer markets, and our commitment to continuous, thoughtful innovation,” the firm writes.
The firm writes that the shift in wealth management from individual stock/fund selection to a portfolio-based approach is accelerating across BlackRock-managed models and third-party allocators.
“We expect the total opportunity in managed models to reach approximately USD11.5 trillion, more than double the USD4 trillion of AUM currently in models today,” the firm says.
“In the US, about 40 per cent of BlackRock’s 1H ETF growth came from model portfolios used by wealth clients.
“As more clients access our platform through models, we have broadened the range of models and vehicles used. Models go well beyond index ETFs. Our models today include index and active iShares ETFs and mutual funds, and we are adding offerings with SMAs and alternatives.”
