HANetf and Infrastructure Capital Advisors launch preferred income ETF on London Stock Exchange

HANetf has announced the launch of the Infrastructure Capital Preferred Income UCITS ETF (ticker: PFFI) on London Stock Exchange.

The ETF pursues an actively managed income strategy, focused primarily on US preferred stocks, and is designed to deliver high current income through a diversified portfolio of income-generating securities.

It seeks to outperform traditional preferred stock benchmarks by combining rigorous quantitative screening with qualitative security selection. This approach emphasises securities that the Adviser believes are undervalued based on factors such as credit and term premium, liquidity, sector exposure, and market capitalisation.

Through active management, the ETF aims to exploit pricing inefficiencies resulting from interest rate shifts, credit risk, and market dislocations – offering investors exposure to a broader range of high-yield opportunities than typically found in passive income funds.

The ETF will pay a managed monthly distribution, allowing investors to generate regular income that can be reinvested or reallocated. This feature, combined with the Adviser’s ability to respond dynamically to changing market conditions, makes the ETF potentially compelling for investors seeking yield in today’s low-interest-rate environment.

The firm writes that the ETF is managed by a seasoned investment team from Infrastructure Capital Advisors, a boutique financial firm with over USD2.5 billion in managed assets.

CEO and CIO Jay Hatfield, whose economic analysis was recently cited by the President of the United States, brings decades of experience in energy infrastructure and capital markets, having served as a portfolio manager at SAC Capital and as an investment banker at Morgan Stanley and CIBC Oppenheimer, where he led over USD10 billion in transactions.

Samuel Caffrey-Agoglia, the firm’s CFO and CRO, contributes deep legal, accounting, and regulatory expertise, with a background that includes roles at PwC, the U.S. Department of Energy, and a New York law firm.

Director of Research and Portfolio Manager Andrew Meleney is a CFA Charterholder with experience analysing income investments, midstream MLPs, and energy and infrastructure sectors.

Jay Hatfield, CEO and CIO at Infrastructure Capital Advisors, says: “We are excited to bring our preferred income strategy to global markets. We believe it’s an opportune time for global investors to capture higher yielding income investments as interest rates are falling globally. We are applying our comprehensive investment process to PFFI, which is centred around risk management.

“We are thrilled to be partnering with HANetf and believe the team are offering innovative investment products so investors can diversify their portfolios and benefit under various market environments.”

Hector McNeil, Co-Founder and Co-CEO of HANetf, says: “We’re delighted to be partnering with Infrastructure Capital Advisors to launch the Infrastructure Capital Preferred Income UCITS ETF (ticker: PFFI). The ETF is designed to allow investors to generate regular income, that can then be reinvested or reallocated – at a time when investors are increasingly seeking reliable income and smarter ways to navigate volatile markets.

“With Infrastructure Capital’s research-driven active management process, we believe this fund offers a compelling alternative to traditional passive income strategies – providing the flexibility to capture attractive yield opportunities while managing downside risk.

“This is the 14th active ETF on the HANetf platform, and it arrives amid an increasingly high volume of enquiries from asset managers about launching active strategies with us. The active space is growing rapidly in Europe and is showing no signs of slowing down anytime soon. We look forward to growing our active range with both new and existing partners.”
