Global X ETFs Europe has announced the launch and listing of the Global X AI Semiconductor & Quantum UCITS ETF (CHPX) on London Stock Exchange and Deutsche Börse Xetra with listing on Borsa Italiana and SIX Swiss Exchange to follow in the coming weeks.
CHPX is the latest addition to the firm’s thematic suite of products and aims to expose European investors to companies that may benefit from the growth and advancement of AI semiconductors and quantum computing ecosystems. The ETF will provide exposure across four key sub-themes: AI Semiconductors, Computer Systems Enablers, Data Centre Infrastructure and Equipment and Quantum Computing technologies.
The firm writes that artificial intelligence and quantum computing are reshaping the future of technology, driving innovation across industries from healthcare to national security.
“This transformation is driving demand for faster, more efficient semiconductors to power the complex processing behind AI models and the emerging capabilities of quantum systems.
“The computing power required to train leading AI models has increased by a factor of over 1,000 times since 2012, emphasising the growing need for advanced processing capabilities, especially as demand for these AI models continues to increase. With global shipments of AI-specific semiconductors projected to grow to approximately 180 million by 2030, and quantum computing expected to generate up to USD1 trillion in economic value by 2035, this sector’s growth potential makes it a compelling theme that investors may want to consider.”
“The semiconductor industry is experiencing one of its most significant transformations in decades, driven by the rapid rise of artificial intelligence and the growing need for specialised hardware. This shift toward AI-optimised processors, high-bandwidth memory, and ultra-fast connectivity marks a fundamental evolution that has the potential to shape the future of the industry,” says Andrew Ye, Thematic Investment Strategist at Global X ETFs Europe.
“As the AI ecosystem continues to expand, investors are increasingly looking for ways to gain exposure to these transformative sectors without having to cherry-pick individual companies. CHPX will join our other AI-focused ETFs: the Global X Robotics & Artificial Intelligence UCITS ETF (BOTZ),the Global X Artificial Intelligence UCTIS ETF (AIQU), and the Global X Data Center REITs & Digital Infrastructure UCITS ETF (VPN), providing European investors with additional opportunities to gain exposure to, and potentially benefit from, the innovation taking place across the entire AI value chain,” says George Taylor, Chief Operating Officer and Co-Head of Global X ETFs Europe.
CHPX will carry a total expense ratio of 0.35% and will track the Mirae Asset AI Semiconductor & Quantum Index.
