21Shares opens access to crypto ETPs for UK retail investors

21Shares has announced the availability of four of its flagship crypto ETPs to retail investors in the UK for the first time.

The firm writes that this milestone follows the Financial Conduct Authority’s (FCA) decision to lift the ban on the sale of crypto ETNs to retail clients.

Starting from today, 21Shares writes that UK retail investors can trade the following physically backed ETNs through the London Stock Exchange:

21Shares Bitcoin ETP (ABTC)

21Shares Core Bitcoin ETP (CBTC)

21Shares Ethereum Staking ETP (AETH)

21Shares EthereumCore Staking ETP (ETHC)

To mark this landmark moment, 21Shares writes that it has introduced a new fee structure of 0.10 per cent for its Core products, writing that this reflects its commitment to making regulated access to digital assets more cost-efficient.

“Today’s launch represents a landmark step for the UK market and for everyday investors who, for years, have been excluded from regulated crypto products,” says Russell Barlow, CEO of 21Shares. “We welcome the FCA’s decision, which begins to level the playing field with Europe, where retail investors have long had access to regulated crypto ETPs. This is an important start, but not the finish line – access to Bitcoin and Ethereum is only the first step in building a more comprehensive and innovation-friendly framework for the UK.”

21Shares writes that it was among the first crypto issuers to list products on the London Stock Exchange in 2024, and in 2025 has already captured over 70 per cent of total turnover in crypto ETN trading on the LSE, underscoring its leadership position in the market.

“Our mission has always been to provide transparent, cost-efficient, and regulated access to crypto assets,” says Duncan Moir, President of 21Shares. “With this launch, UK retail investors can now participate through the same institutional-grade structures that investors across Europe have been using for years.”

21Shares’ products are physically backed, fully collateralised, and held with institutional-grade custodians. The firm continues to advocate for broader retail access to crypto beyond bitcoin and Ethereum, ensuring that the UK has the opportunity to establish itself as a global leader in digital assets.
